Five Trends You’ll Be Seeing In 2023
Trust us, these design moves will be everywhere in 2023. You heard it here first!
1. Staggered Wall Tiles
Design firm Collective Studio played with pattern in this principal bathroom, shifting the same five-by five-inch tiles from a staggered format to stacked, halfway up the wall.
2. Exposed Stone
In this rustic kitchen by design firm Hessa, each stone was individually cut in order to be flush with the backsplash over the range. “Our client is Italian, and we wanted to lean in to her heritage and make it look like a European space. We made sure the grout lines were visible between the stones, and that the wall had a limewashed look,” says designer Ariane Gordon.
3. Checkerboard
From rugs to pillows and even furniture, the classic motif is a great way to add a subtle hit of color and pattern to your rooms. You’ll see it used on floors, wall tile and wallpaper, as well as on this upholstered bed by Matthew and Rick Bettencourt.
4. Arched Molding
Can you spot the wall molding? Add subtle interest to your walls with surface applied moldings in an arched design. Designer Svetlana Tryaskina kept the look of this living room soft and refined by adding moldings to either side of the fireplace.
5. Limewashed Walls
For a look that will bring depth and texture to small spaces, limewash delivers. Designer Sarah Birnie replaced wallpaper for limewash in Mejuri cofounder Noura Sakkijha’s Toronto powder room.
