Food blogger and TV personality Abbey Sharp is on a mission to silence your inner food shamer. Her myth-debunking media brand, Abbey’s Kitchen , has garnered 240,000+ social followers and half a million monthly blog visitors, plus she’s a regular on The Marilyn Denis Show. She’s also the mom of a busy toddler and the author of The Mindful Glow Cookbook , which just won a gold medal at the Taste Canada Awards. She invited us into her home to show off the kitchen she designed from scratch and share some of her favorite recipes.
“I believe you eat with your eyes first, so my priority is always to think about color,” says Abby. “I also know that where there’s color, there’s nutrition. So I’m naturally building a more balanced, nutrient-dense meal simply by focusing on making a beautiful-looking one.”
“My husband is form, and I’m function,” she says. “He focused on the design aesthetic [of the kitchen] — the marble countertops and the island, for example. I focused on working out where everything should go. I really wanted a pantry because I needed a place that could get unruly without anybody, including my husband, knowing! We put up a wall to close it off from the main kitchen. Knowing that I’m often recipe testing here, I also really wanted two ovens, which is great for entertaining.”
“I love kombucha because it’s a really flavorful, low-sugar alternative to traditional soda.”

Charred Cauliflower & Shishito Peppers
“Eating shishitos is like playing Russian Roulette: most are mild, but one in 10 is hot! They pair really nicely with mild cauliflower and the sweet, spicy harissa honey dressing. Plus, the little bit of garlic panko on top adds a nice crunch.”

Squash Crostini With Whipped Ricotta
“I love the natural sweetness of squash, and delicata is one of my favorites when it’s in season. The scalloped edges look so pretty when it’s roasted.”

Beet & Citrus Salad
“Beets are nature’s candy, and I love how they add color during the winter months when most food is brown and beige.”

Pistachio-Crusted Salmon
“Fish and chips is one of my favorite meals, but to keep things a little bit lighter, this pistachio panko crust adds the perfect element of crunch without it being too heavy.”

Brûléed Grapefruit With Mascarpone Cream
“This recipe takes the classic health food, grapefruit, and adds a decadent burnt-sugar crust. Then that sour-sweet combination is juxtaposed with the creamy mascarpone, which balances everything out nicely.”
