New: Hotel AKA NoMad
Formerly The Roger New York hotel, the AKA opens this month and is the first U.S. hotel project by famed Italian architect Piero Lissoni. Guest rooms are elegant and understated, while common spaces are dramatic and opulent, like the floating lobby staircase that leads to the mezzanine.

Classic: The Whitby Hotel
If you love decorating, you’ll love The Whitby. Designed by Kit Kemp of Firmdale Hotels fame, and just three blocks from Central Park and walking distance to The Met, this boutique hotel will transport you to London. Don’t miss breakfast — it’s fabulous.

Where To Eat
New: Koloman
Adjoining Manhattan’s Ace Hotel, Koloman is one of the city’s best new restaurants. Led by Austrian-born chef Markus Glocker, the resto offers an inspired French- Viennese menu, including elevated schnitzel and salmon en croûte. Decorated in an amber and black palette accented with brass, the dining room is a study in class.

Classic: Le Bernardin
This institution, which opened in 1986, not only survived the pandemic but is thriving: The New York Times recently gave it four stars — for the fifth time. Chef Eric Ripert has created a stellar seafood offering; splurge on the tasting menu!

What To See
New: Culture Object
This gallery and shop showcases art that marries the conceptual and functional. Founded by Damon Crain, an art consultant and expert in mid-20th-century glass, Culture Object features Korean artist Janny Baek’s first solo exhibit and Hyper- Materiality, a group exhibition, this spring.

Classic: The Guggenheim, Whitney Museum of American Art and MoMA
There’s always something to see at the city’s art institutions. This month, The Guggenheim opens Young Picasso in Paris, an exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the artist’s death. The Whitney hosts Jaune Quick-to-See Smith: Memory Map, a retrospective of the artist, who belongs to the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nation. And at MoMA, check out To See Takes Time, the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit.

New: Nordstrom Home
Over two levels of the store’s flagship location, Nordstrom Home opened recently with a thoughtful inventory, including Canada’s own Goodee and the first brick-and-mortar location of Great Jones, the kitchenware brand.

Visit the Lower Manhattan store to find what’s au courant in furniture and accents, but also to see what’s on the trend horizon for U.S. and global design. The in-house brand, Matter Made, is all about intentional minimalism, with stylish pieces that take function seriously.
